Just thought he'd be there

All of a sudden I'm so predictably melancholy. It could be with my mother telling stories of how my dad was pretty much always a loser. Mostly I think it's from the shock of dreaming about him so vividly, and then waking up and him not being here.
I just expected him to be there.
So when there was no casual arm thrown across my body, or breath in my ear, I was surprised, to say the least.
I'm always surprised by the oddest things.
